For more than 95 years, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has preserved, protected, and fostered a greater understanding of the Black experience through its collections, exhibitions, programs, and scholarship.
As part of the Library’s phased reopening, the Schomburg Center is now open for research services. In line with pre-pandemic service, some collections require advance consultation with staff and/or an appointment to view. You may book a virtual consultation with a Library staff member to discuss your research needs and make an appointment to come onsite. If you are not sure which division is right for your research, please contact Ask NYPL for assistance.
