Book a Consultation -

Make an appointment in 3 steps. Step 1: Select a staff member. Step 2: Select an available date. Step 3: Select an available timeslot.

For more than 95 years, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has preserved, protected, and fostered a greater understanding of the Black experience through its collections, exhibitions, programs, and scholarship.

As of May 10, as part of the Library’s gradual reopening, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is partially open—by appointment only—for limited research services. Book a virtual consultation with a Library staff member to determine whether your research needs can be met remotely or if you need to make an onsite research appointment. If you need to visit the Schomburg Center, our staff will confirm a time and make the onsite research appointment with you during your consultation. If you are unsure which division or research center you are looking for, contact Ask NYPL.
